Urban Igloo is DC's Apartment Finders which combines an apartment search engine with leasing agents to show properties.
Why did you start your business? There was a void in DC in the residential rental market for companies which specialize in apartment rentals and are performance based. Urban Igloo offers all of that plus the professionalism that I'm familiar with from my 30 years of commercial brokerage and development experience.
Who were your role models? Industry trailblazers like Julien Studley who pioneered the tenant representation model for commercial buildings. And the late Sam Pardoe, for the firm he built from the ground up. Lastly, my Dad, one of 15 kids, who grew up on a farm picking tobacco and later built a successful law practice in Connecticut as well as shopping centers up and down the east coast.
Who is your perfect customer? A smart urban professional with the good judgment to jump on a great opportunity
What one thing would our members be surprised to learn about you? Once I see a license plate on an acquaintance or friend's car, I have it memorized, or at least think I do!
What value do you hope to gain from your Chamber membership? As we continue to work with law firms, corporations, associations, teachers, and individuals who either need a great place to live or want to find a renter quickly and easily, the DC Chamber can help spread the word about Urban Igloo.
