Whether in the halls of the DC Council or the US Congress, the DC Chamber of Commerce represents your business interests. The DC Chamber serves as the voice of the District's business community in the District of Columbia Council, DC Government, Federal government and the United States Congress.
The Chamber's aggressive advocacy role is vital to sustaining a strong voice in the formulation of public policy that affects your business. Through coordinated lobbying and communications strategies, we advocate for and educate the community on significant policies and legislation that affects the quality of life and the business community in the District. Advocacy efforts range from: pursuing changes in laws, policies or regulations to efforts to increase public awareness of specific issues of concern to the business community. The Chamber's advocacy efforts are augmented through collaborations with member businesses, Board members, strategic partners, other business associations, and DC government officials with similar interests.
Department of Government Relations & Public Policy
The government relations staff is responsible for advocacy, public education, communications, information and outreach. We implement a proactive policy agenda and communications strategy. The Chamber staff monitor pertinent legislation, public policy and regulations on the District Government and Federal levels.
Public Policy Agenda
The Chamber's Public Policy Agenda articulates the broad policy issues that serve as a roadmap for our advocacy efforts on a broad range of legislative, regulatory and policy issues.
Committees
Throughout the year the Chamber's policy committee's are hard at work on behalf of the District's business community. The committees serve as forums for discussion on specific policy issues, review legislation, plan events and make recommendations that help the Chamber formulate policy positions on major issues. The DC Chamber's ability to impact legislation and policy development in the District is enhanced by the activities of its Committee on Government Affairs.
Development of Policy Agenda The Chamber's policy agenda is developed to reflect the business policy issues of interest to our members. Working with the Government Affairs Committee, strategic partners, board members and other Chamber committees, a broad policy agenda is developed which reflects the key policy issues of importance to the Chamber members.
